Tango
The history of Tango is fascinating and is close connected with the history of Buenos Aires.

The nightlife in Argentina is quite spectacular. The first one who gives up before sunrise, will have to prove the contrary the following night.

The reason why the Argentinians are able to stay up late during the night, though, they have to go to work in the morning, is their custom of taking a siesta in the afternoon for several hours. Because of the fact that it gets very hot in the afternoon, all physical and mental efforts are set in the morning, late afternoon and evening. The Argentinians managed to divert this situation into a cultural and economical advantage. Toghether with Uruguay, Argentina is economically the most developed country in South America.

Nightlife in Argentina is well known. The metropolis city of Buenos Aires has many possibilities to party all night long. However, the other big cities have plenty to offer in this regard. There are endless things to do in the city centres with its cafes, restaurants, clubs etc. and most are open late at night, and full of people. It is still relatively safe to walk around at night.

Even if the tourist comes to one of the residential areas and is still eager to go out, then it is quite likely that somewhere there is a village disco, or some bored locals, who will improvise a gathering which may last until the morning.

On the downside of things, it is quite difficult to be able to sleep at night in Argentina with all the noise. So we suggest bringing a good set of ear plugs, and definitely some anti-mosquito spray! The Argentinian people admire Brazilians and hence they copy the Brazilian lifestyle with partying all night long and partying constantly. If you go to a disco or a night club, you will be surprised at the dancing skills of the locals. What the Argentines love doing as well, is to discuss God and politics all night long over cups of coffee.

In the case of Argentina, the motto here is an old one: “do as the Romans do”, which means, that the foreign guest will face unbelievable disturbances during the night and will be quite exhausted, but with the siesta, one can compensate at least some of the lost sleep.
