Santa Fe Argentina
Your note
On the big river of Santa Fe....
The province, Santa Fe, lies in the east of Argentina. Its capital is also named Santa Fe, but the biggest city is Rosario (birthplace of Che Guevara) in the south, where there is lots of industry and trade centres (almost 1 million inhabitants).
The fertile and rich south of the province belongs to the Pampas and has varied farming and kettle breeding, and the north belongs to the subtropical Chaco plains. The whole territory is completely flat.
Nowadays it is one of the regions with most inhabitants of the country. The first settlers of Santa Fe were mostly of European origin. Next to the already build towns, settlements were created in the countryside (colonies) which where ethically quite homogenous. Most of them were Italians, Germans and Swiss. Of the orginal people, there are only a few left.
The regional tourism plays an important role in Santa Fe. For foreign tourists, some of the interesting things to see are the historical monuments of the capital Santa Fe, the big town Rosario, and the recreation regions of Rio Parana.
