Santa Cruz is the most southern of the for provinces in the Argentine part of Pataonia. The capital is Rio Gallegos.
Its landscape is typical for Patagonia with the Andes in the West and the Mesteta or plateau to the Atlantik.
This province is the least populated part of Argentina. To travel here is real adventure, because you can count hours before you will see a car pass by.
Touristic sights are many in Santa Cruz. There are many natural reserves and two national parks: Perito Moreno and Los Glaciares. In this province is the famous Moreno Glacier. Santa Cruz is known around the world among mountain climbers. On the border to Chile you will find the Cerro Fitz Roy (approx. 3,400m high) one of the most difficult summits to climb on earth. The fantastic Cueva de las Manos has wonderful cave designs which go back 8000 years before Christ.
