The Perito Moreno Glaciers in the province of Santa Cruz is without a doubt one of the biggest natural spectacles of the world. Every 3-4 years when the ice breaks, it creates a fantastic natural performance not to be missed.

Here is one of the most spectacular sights of Argentina to be seen. A glacier wall, with many ice towers, 4km long and 60m high, are full of life and sounds. When the ice falls, it makes immense noise into the lake, where darkblue icebergs are floating. If one observes the glacier for one day from the other side of the shore, one realises its different faces through the reflection of the sun.

This part of the national park Los Glaciares has also a number of imressionable ice fields, like the Upsala Glacier (with 595 sqkm one of the largest worldwide) or the Onell and spegazzini glaciers in forest surroundings.Further north in the park lies the Cerro Fitz Roy (apprx. 3400m) an immense, perfect pyramid of granite.

Here it is possible to practice many sports, ice climbing, trekking, horseback riding, and boat rides. The national park Los Claciares is easily reachable from the tourist centres of El Chaltén and El Calafate.
