From Misiones one can take many excursions to Paraguay, for it has some beautiful attractions to offer.

There is a direct border crossing to Paraguay from the province Misiones which leads to the capital of the province Posadas and to Encarnacion in Paraguay. Another border crossing leads to Foz do Iguacu in Brazil, which is located near the Iguazu waterfalls , directly after the Punta del Este in Paraguay.

Asunción (with the suburbs approx. 1,5 Mio. Habitants ) was founded in 1537 by Juan de Salazar. Because of its central position , it became the main point of the Jesuits, who constructed their mission here in the 19th Century. Asunción is nowadays a "Backwater", situated on the shores of the Río Paraguay. But it is hospitable and has well looked after parks . In the centre it is very busy . The town also offers some interesting architectural buildings from the colonial times of the previous century.

Historical sights on the shore of the Rio Parana: Several sights are remains of the colonial period . Attractive there is the Jesuit church of Trinidad und Jesús, the 1640 founded Capiata and the museum of the Indians (Museo de las Indigenas) of San Lorenzo. Best starting point for those monuments is the border town Encarnación, which is easily reached from Posadas, Argentina.

Trans-Chaco-Street: Adventure trip (approx. 800km) between Asunción and the border to Bolivia. Interesting because of the settler history of Parguay (Russian, German and Kanadian immigrants and because of the exotic fauna and flora.
