The Argentinian people likes to eat out and enjoy the variety of many different restaruants. All over Argentina are found Restaurants for every taste and financial possibility. The quality of the food is quite acceptable. A choice between simple but clean places, some middle class restaurants to luxury restaurants are found in all bigger towns and tourist centres. Whilst in the north there is a restaurant on almost on every corner, this tends to change as you head south. The food found here is the traditional Gaucho cuisine and the gastronomy of the many immigrants which are Italian, Spanish, German, French, Chinese, Hebrew and Arab. In the northwest and northeast of the country are Indian influences which enrich the cuisine.
Lunch is usually between 12.30pm-2.30pm and as from 9pm dinner starts. However, it is possible to eat and drink in Argentina whenever wanted to or needed. Food can be bought in the many cafes, kiosks, fast food joints, shops and shopping centres.
Well known are the quality and quantity of the meat portions, which are served on every plate, though, in Argentina too, a change of eating habits is taking place and the so called “vegetarian wave” has also reached a country with the best meats. Breakfast is a simple meal with milk coffee and toast and croissants. |
