Between exotic flora and thornbushes, Chaco is an ideal place to enjoy your vacation in Argentina.

The province Chaco is in the north of Argentina. Its capital is Resistencia on the Rio Parana, which is the longest river in Argentina.

The Gran Chaco region is wellknown for its extreme weather conditions. A very dry climate predominates th south, with long sequences of dry spells with no rain in sight. However, in the east, there are other parts where strong rainfall is frequent and flooding causes jungle like vegetation.

In Chaco, there are many residents who are originally from Paraguay and also descendants of Spanish settlers. The rest of the population is quite varied. Also found here are the so called Mennonites, also known as Old-Protestants or Old- Baptists from Germany, Russia and Canada.

The region has tourist interest for its fauna and wilderness. It is possible to encounter there a number of exotic animals like crocodiles, monkeys and numerous snakes such as boas, anakondas and rattlesnakes. The national park in Chaco is known for its rich birdlife. In the capital you will find many sculptures in the streets (ca. 300). Worth a visit may be the newly opened thermal baths or hot spring in Roque Sáenz Peña.
