One should not leave Mendoza without enjoying a glass of Argentinian wine.

In Argentina, wine has been cultivated for more than 500 years, but only as from mid 19th Century, wine cellars were built by the Spanish and Italian Immigrants.

Some of the old bodegas or wineries can be seen in a guided tour and some of their wines can be tried. Known wine cellars are the Bodega Escorihuela in Godoy Cruz, the Bodegas Giol and La Rural (biggest wine museum in South America) situated in Maipú and the Bodegas Chandon and Zapata in Luján de Cuyo. All Bodegas can be reached by public transport vom Mendoza.

The Wine Harvest Festival "Fiesta de la Vendimia" is held in February and March and is definitely something to see with Tango, ethnic dance, colourful processions, etc.
