The Palermo district, which borders Recoleta has quiet streets and attractive buildings, which is a nice change from the hectic city centre. Many old buildings are up for renovation. Here you can enjoy some big parks with leisure activities that invite to rest and relax. The Zoo is also in Palemo, as well as the botanical garden.
The city centre of Buenos Aires is also called Microcentro. Here you will find the amusement centre and the biggest shops, most offices, hotels, banks and governmental institutions. A known mark in the city centre is the Avenida 9 de Julio with its Obelisk. Recently two fashion districts were constructed: the elegant Belgrane bordering on Palermo, and the modern Puerto Madero with its many bars and restaurants. The districts Retiro (North) and Constitución (South) are not recommended for the tourist, nevertheless there is the characteristic quater of the train station with pleny of taverns, street markets etc. |
